Competition young eventing horses to Rijssen, Ede and Maarsbergen
The Dutch Eventing Young Horse Trials, the aptitude test for 4- and 5-year-old eventing horses, will be renewed in 2023. The final will take place on Thursday 29 June on the beautiful stage of the international Maarsbergen Horse Trials. Participants must have ridden one of the selections with a satisfactory assessment. They will be held in Rijssen (TCN Sporthorses) on Wednesday 10 May and in Ede (De Valouwe) on 11 June.
This makes the competition, which is highly valued not only in the eventing world due to its horse-friendly design, even more compact and accessible. What remains is the presentation in the dressage ring, followed immediately by a short show jumping course and immediately afterwards a number of cross obstacles in the terrain. The assessment is again in the hands of three jury members: Irene de Wolf, Marc van der Beken and Bert Wagenvoort.
Initiator René van der Leest of the Dutch Eventing Stables is proud of his fourth edition: ‘Tarik van Boggelen, Wendela Schlimmer and Maurits van der Goes are very enthusiastic about the concept. They fully support it, it is very nice that we have these new, committed partners. We have been able to keep three editions at HC De Schalm of co-initiators Gert and Ria, which has laid a nice foundation. We all agree that it is good that we have a good training circuit for talented horses in the Netherlands.”
To make the set-up even more friendly, the organization has decided to make practice possible. Both in the week before Rijssen and in the week before Ede, there are plenty of opportunities for practice in those areas. The final in Maarsbergen will be livestreamed again, last year’s broadcasts have attracted tens of thousands of viewers all over the world.
